NEM 3.0 Is Here. Battery Is Essential.
If you're an Edison customer, the rules have changed. Under NEM 3.0, the value of solar energy exported back to the grid has dropped by roughly 75%. Without a battery, you're leaving money on the table.
What Changed with NEM 3.0?
❌ Without Battery (NEM 3.0)
Your solar panels produce the most energy midday — when you're not home. Under NEM 3.0, Edison pays you pennies for that excess energy. You then buy it back at full price during peak evening hours. Your savings shrink dramatically.
✅ With Battery (NEM 3.0)
A battery stores your midday solar energy and releases it during expensive peak hours (4–9 PM). Instead of selling low and buying high, you use your own stored power. Your savings stay strong — and you're protected during outages.
💡 Good News for IID Customers
NEM 3.0 only applies to Edison (SCE) customers. If you're on IID, you're not affected — but a battery still adds value through backup power and energy independence.
